I'll start off by saying I love my Sps and am freaking out and no can seem to figure this out I recently replaced my light from an 8 bulb nova to an 8 bulb tek 10in above the water and changed my sump and skimmer from a 65 coralife and 10 gal sump to a 25 gal sump and reef octopus 110. After I did that the next day my candy Caines were dead orange digitata, blue stag, stylo all looked like they were melting and then pure white under obviously I know they are dead but I cannot figure out why here are the parameters
Alk-11
Cal-400
Ph-8.0
Phosphate-2.0( I think this is kind of high)
Iodine-0.25
This is a 72 gallon bowfront mixed reef 110lb tonga rock 6 fish also I did use silicone and glue to put baffles in the same way I did my old sump and this didn't happen then.

Please I need help I do not want any more of my coral to die I put a bag of carbon in to pull out if any "bad stuff" in the water

what kind of silicone did you use? there seems to be a lot these threads popping up and it had to do with the type of silicone that was used.

Also....are your phosphates 2.0ppm or .02 ppm??? If theyre 2.0 ppm thats definitely an issue.

Phosphate to high, Alk a bit on the high side (9 is better).
Do you dose Mag?
What's you Nitrite and Amonia?
Enough water flow?
Start out with a WC of 30% and check all # again.

Thanks guys yes I dose aquavitro mag also 2 hydor 1050 pumps as for the silicone it was just a general purpose kind in a tube like a window sealer and it cured for a day, there is no nitrate/nitrite or ammonia but I will say this all my coraline algea has changed to brown, but thank you and keep the suggestions coming!

that is probably your problem. you need to use a food safe type silicon. most regular silicons have chemical that will slowly get into the tank even after completely drying and will cause a lot of harm to the stuff in the tank.

thats what makes sense to me

(update) my coraline algea has turned from normal to poop brown and nothing else has died I now have put in a monster reactor with biopellet and a carbon bag I have just been letting my lfs do my tests so I decided to do it myself and this is what I got yesterday morning/alk-9.5(then I dosed)cal-440 ph-7.9/night/alk-11.2 cal-460 ph-8.2/ now alk-10.2 cal-460 ph-7.9, I have come to this conclusion I'm pretty sure I shocked my corals when I put my new tek light on but also my Freind brought up this good point when I dose I just put in 2-3 caps at a time without testing and modifying with calculation so what I am gonna do is let the water sit for a week test every day and work up calculations for how much additive to put in what does everyone think??
