Got home from work today and saw toadstool looking weird.

Background: I did install new lights a week ago. Much higher PAR. Since it looked like the toadstool didnt like the light I lowered the coral. All other corals are very happy and I didnt have to move them.

Lights are less than 30% blues and whites so I am not worried the light is causing the problems.

All parameters are good. bi weekly water changes (20%). I dose All For Reef on the off weeks. Test water every weekend and everything is stable.

Then comes today. The polyps are out but it looks like someone took saran wrap and placed it on top of the coral pinning down the extended polyps.

I know toadstools shed and mine has several times but never like this.

I blew water on the toadstool and the film blew off and the polyps retracted.

Then the coral head looked like a pin cushion.

Shortly after the mini holes filled in.

It looks fine now. But has anyone had this happen before?

Mine looks like that right now, my clowns hate that coral. They constantly beat it up and push it off the rocks, frag racks, or flip it when it's on the bottom. I just moved it to a my tank I'm trying to get coraline to start.

That’s what the shedding should look like. Clear and shiny. Totally normal the polyps will eventually push the film off. Extra flow or blowing with turkey baster helps speed it along!
