So I’m new at this salt water thing and this is my first hammer. I noticed this “pineapple” shaped growth forming on the skeleton of my gold hammer. Anyone have any idea what this is or what it could be? Any input welcome. Thanks for helping a novice out (in advance)!

I’ve had a couple grown before, and removed them. About a month ago I removed two from between the two heads. They kind of just fell off and were removed with zero effort. Let it be noted that the past ones had grown to be bigger and remained the same shape. They were slippery and squishy.

Its sponge. Scrape off outside the tank and discard. Outside of tank as some sponge can release toxins- Not all
