They are hydroids.

How old is your tank? What are you feeding your tank?

Your hydroids are probably thriving on what you are feeding.

Personally, I would reevaluate what and how much you are feeding, clean a little more, pluck away some of the polyps and change the water. You also have aippies and pineapple sponges in there, both of which could also climb to nuisance numbers in a nutrient-rich tank. You should probably go ahead and get rid of the one appy in that first picture. It's right above the hydroids.

I know others medicate their tanks, but I can't advise on that.

Hi Todd , i read another thread that you explain a little bit how to get rid of them but i have a lot of questions
this is the one i'm talking about ( https://www.reef2reef.com/threads/here-it-is-fenbendazole-use-against-hydroids.214950/ )
instead of the powder method could i use this ?
http://seahorsesource.com/?wpsc-product=fenbendazole-panacur-10-suspension
if so how much per gallon ?
are there any other warnings besides the ones you mention in the other thread ?
I want to do this , i'm committed to getting rid of these things before they kill all my zoas !
Please help me do this.

First question is what are you feeding the tank?

I highly recommend this product as I know it is fenbendazole
https://www.amazon.com/Thomas-Bendazole-Fenbendazole-Powder-packets/dp/B00BFVKJIQ

You don't need that much but you can find it in 3 packet containers.
A good rule of thumb is 1mg per gallon of water. So a 250mg packet will treat 250 gallons if you don't have a scale.
All the warning should be within that thread.
Please read it thoroughly

Todd,i have the 3 packets of Thomas-Bendazole-Fenbendazole-Powder-packets but i'm a bit confused on the other thread i see in some places it says 1.5 mg per gal and in others it says 1mg. per gallon? i estimate 70 gal. in my system do i use 70mg or 105 mg.? and do i crush this stuff too ? does it dissolve in water or stay suspended ?do i take my filter sock off ?

That is the neat thing about this stuff. It's like metronidazole you can't overdose it.
1mg per gallon is easier to clean up.
The actual through calculation is 1.4 mg.
In your 70 gallon tank I would do 70mg if the problem isn't too large.
105 if it is serious

thanks Todd, i really appreciate your help and i hope your wife is feeling better ... i went through that type of treatment years ago with my dad, i hope everything works out for her. i would assume that i take my filter sock off ? i know that i stop air flow to the skimmer and stop carbon and gfo , and keep the flow high . i got it pretty bad so i'm going to dose 100mg and do a 20 gal water change 24-30 hours later. i'm going to document this procedure and share my results with this and your other thread ....is there any other advice that you can give me???
