Help with encrusting SPS ID

I have been trying to identify this for a few weeks. I got it as an encrusting montipora but I can’t find anything like it nor have I seen anything personally. Any info would be much appreciated. I put pics under blues and whites.

Looks like sandollar monti ...but could be something different that hasn't colored up yet...IMO

Agreed, to hard to tell right now. Would wait until it starts to color up and encrust a little more!

My best guess it is a montipora confusa. It helps if you can grow it out a little more, and to take pictures with a filter lense to able to tell exactly what it is.

I will attempt to take some better pics with the macro lense for my poly lab phone filter. The color is exactly what it came as out of an established tank. I unfortunately did not get a look at the mother colony but I was told it is encrusting. It is already growing on the plug so maybe just waiting it out will be best. Thanks everyone!

I believe thats actually the encrustment/base of an acropora.

Montipora's polyps generally are in between the verrucae and coenstrum ridges, not on the tips/ridges.
To my eyes at least your coral's (bumps) have that half barrel shape look of acropora radial corallites.

I have been thinking this as well recently. Time will tell. With my luck it will be over a year before it decides to do more than encrust. Lol

Good point, I was thinking of the same thing that it is a encrusted of an acropora but wasn’t sure, because the author he got it as a montipora
