So ive had this and a smaller red goniopora for about 3 weeks maybe ? The first 30 min of getting it. It opened way up. More than the store and looked great.. but overtime i realized my heater wasnt working properly and my temps went to 85f. From the normal 80 or so i keep it at.
The red goni bleached a little and the green closed up completetly. Lowered the temps. And its been about 2 weeks now and it opens. But only 60% of the way. I have been moving it in different spots. In the shade. Middle bottom. And i cant figure out why its always like this.
So i decided to sit in my room for 3 hours watching it. And right when it opens up and its at 50% my larger fish always spook it back into itself. And i noticed these corals seem to be sensative to touch and stuff.
I ttied moving it and making walls and small places so my larger fish stay away but that seems to make then come even more. For some reason my 7-9 inch fish wanna cram thenselvs into snall places.. constantly iritating this coral.
I cant figure out where to put it. Except this one spot i just placed it. The only problem is this spot is high light. Its one of the tallest places in my tank. But it is a plateau so perfect for its flat base. Flow isnt too high here either.
It is on the very end of my tank but my lights do span full 72 inchs. I have 4 t5 bulbs. I isually only keep my acros this high and nothing else.
I dunno what to do lol. Should i keep it here see what happens or do you think this is too high up ? Its about 5 inchs from the surface of the water, my lights are 8 inchs from the water. If you look at my pic i had it prior on the sand bed thats now empty directly below this. And my fish as i said keep iritating it. anywhere i place it on the sand they will find a way to swim up to it, its annoying. I do know the new spot i put it in they never go there i just worry about the high light. I had deep water acro stags there once and they bleached fast from the high light. I had to move em down mid way in the tank.
