Hi!
We have a 75 gallon tank and we had our wave maker on and it seemed all fine. We got two small clownfish and two firefish today and it seems to be too much for them. Anyone have suggestions on what settings we should run? I have it as low as it can go right now. It is a Jebao RW8.

That’s a difficult question to answer because their are many variables that need to be looked at as every aquarium is different.
Having said this however, your best bet is trial and error. Moreover, it is best to create a turbid flow throughout your tank and not a laminar one as it puts too much stress on many animals and is not natural. Try changing the speed and mode to see what does the best job of dispersing the water to the most area in your tank. Remember that current is very strong in many of the earths marine biotopes where fish and corals adapt or are use to strong surge, tides and current.
I am running strong current on my one tank housing a pair of Clowns and a large LTA and they all love it.
As a side note, waves, surge, current is a natural way to bring food and remove waste to animals in the ocean and in our aquariums. Water flow also helps to suspend particulate and dissolved organic and inorganic matter in the pelagic areas of our tanks for the canister or skimmers to remove. This same water flow helps to minimize detritus buildup in the benthic areas of our tanks as well as reduce the growth and spread of nuisance micro-algae.

Out of curiosity, what makes you think it's too much for them? Clowns at least (no idea what firefish do) do great in quite a bit of flow usually.
