I purchased a WWC Stellaria chalice frag a couple of weeks ago; I have it resting on my sand bed.

I have seen very little growth from it. No visible polyps or sweepers either.

Does anyone have advice on growing this chalice specifically? Do they require low light or something different from a Tyree Hurricane?

Tank is 5 months old
I have a koralia pointed at the surface, and a seachem tidal 55 on its lowest setting (around 600 GPH total flow including skimmer)
I run hipargero 100 watt LEDs 60% on both blue channels and 6 percent on the whites
All kits are salifert

Alk- 9.6
Calcium-450
Phos- .03
Nitrates- floating between 10-15 ppm
Magnesium - 1300 as of yesterday evening

I dont have a clear photo of the frag sadly. I also do not own a PAR meter.

Before a coral can grow it has to acclimate, some corals acclimate very quickly ,within hours or days, some take weeks or months or even longer.

My chalices took almost 2 years to acclimate to my tank, no growth at all! They both recently just started growing, finally....

IME, the more expensive a coral is, the slower it grows.

Thanks, the Tyree Hurricane took off, and is already growing past its plug. So of course I worried for the other one.

There's a couple that grow super fast.... Miami hurricane and hollywood stunner are others that grow very fast, but typically I find most chalices slow growers.

Moderate lighting from 75 to 150 par is the sweet spot for most chalice types. Many can handle more light if slowly acclimated. Some folks blast certain types with light and have success.
