Hi, I’ve had an AI on my 20g cube for roughly 4 months, good light except even on low settings i’m still getting algae pretty bad, i have the UV, Blue and Royal on 60% and white on 15%. I also have an a80 on a 10 gallon and have gotten pretty much 0 algae while keeping the corals healthy and growing, could I run an a80 on my 20g? i have softies and 2 frogspawn corals on the top near the surface. I enjoy the simplicity of the kessil compared to the AI, the dimensions of the tank are 17.8 x 17.8 by 15 tall.

What is your phosphate level?
Are you using RODI water or tap water from the faucet?
Is this tank at or near a window by chance?

I’m using RO water, and the tank is near a window but not in its light path, i could add a curtain or move the tank away from the light, tbh i didn’t even think about that

It’s not the light. I have that light on a 15 gallon at 70%. There is no algae in that tank.

Do you mean that your tank is only 4 months old? It could be normal part of maturing process.

What is the nitrate and phosphate level?
