Here's a fun one - Pronunciations . . . .

Wait.. is it not pa-sill-o-pour ah
I am the worst with coral names
I guess I say it more like Poss-illa-pour-a. With a slight pause after “Poss”. Not sure what is technically correct.

I've seen someone pronounce acropora as "a-crop-ora"
i think thats
I've heard this a few times by people way smarter than me.

Acropora: uh-CROP-o-ra, as opposed to ack-ro-pora

Montipora: Mon-TIP-o-ra, as opposed to monti-pora
well..... I think thats actually the correct scientific pronunciation since its from the greek Akron hence why almost all scientists pronounce it that way.
Edit: its the root word that you get for the Acropolis, and I think they just go with that way of saying here as well.

Akron + Polis = City summit
Akron +Pora = Pore (in this case corralite) at the top (summit)

Reef2Reef = Reefta-Reef
Reef2Reef = Awe-Some

Reef to reef - No one does it better

Monty-pora or mon-tipora?

I hear lots of people pronounce anemone wrong.
Instead of uh-neh-muh-nee, they say uh-neh-nuh-me.

I'm never sure I'm saying cnidarians correctly...

Everytime I hear it that way, it makes me question the persons snobbishness.
Lol, I drive a Porsche. If I'm talking to a snooty fan-boy of the brand I have to remind myself to say Porsha. To everyone else I say Porsh.
