Just wanted to say hi. I’ve been here but I haven’t properly introduced myself. I’m very brand new at all of this and this salt life world. My bf had fish tank before but now sim experiencing it for the first time and it’s pretty cold. Here’s the tank we have. We have a Scopa Tang, we have orange back angel fish, Midas Benny and two blue fish that I name them suicide squad. We have had others but they have died due to being picky eaters I believe and also the water we haven’t being able to 100 percent stable it . Is a 250 gallon Red Sea S1000. We’ve also had hair algae which was awful to get rid of…anyway super excited about this. Here are some pics. btw by bf built and put it all together himself. Forgot to mention we have corals too.

Welcome to Reef2Reef!
If the tank is new it is totally normal to have a green hair algae outbreak. A quick web search for "ugly phase" will give you some insight on what is happening in the tank :)
It usually breaks down to this:
  1. Diatoms (brown stains on the substrate, glass and in severe cases even rocks)
  2. Green hair algae
  3. Coralline algae (this phase never really ends and isn't considered a nuisance)
