Hi Help…Fragging for the first time

Can I frag any heads off my Torch? I’ve had it just about a year. I spent a lot of money on this Torch as it’s a Holly Grail and do not want to mess it up. I recently set up a new waterbox aio in my office and would love to have a head in that tank. Not to mention want to see how it grows under different lights. My question is can I safely frag this coral and if so what’s the best way? There is no LFS that do coral around me or I would ask them for help. PS in you live in Tri-Cities, WA and want to help me out I would appreciate it!

Hey!

Torches are pretty easy to frag. Just want to cut as low on the branch as possible. Can just cut the base with some bone cutters as their skeletons are pretty fragile.

Be careful to not cut the flesh band, killing the torch. It’s best to cut them with a bandsaw. You can also use a vise + dremel for a clean cut but please wear eye & hand protective gear.

I’ve fragged mine about a dozen times, pretty easy. If you don’t have a band saw like me get a dremel and a diamond blade, cuts through the skeleton like it’s cutting through butter.

Yes, just cut through the skeleton below the flesh band. Watch a YouTube video, they aren’t as fragile as we think.

Haha far from that..wouldn’t be anywhere if it wasn’t for these forms and people like you all! I rarely post but read idk how many hours. One thing I learned after a couple years in the hobby is right when you thought you understood, your tank does something you never seen lol

Just so I understand and sorry for so many questions but if I cut as low as possible even know it will be in the white part it will be okay? Like where the white is starting to turn to what looks green on the photo.

As long as it’s a clean cut below the flesh band, it should be fine. Looks good from the photos.
