My name is Taylor, I've been in the hobby for about 6 years. From the early on i wanted to be more active online, i just didn't have the courage to put myself out there. I kind of fell in to this hobby by accident, In my early twenty's when i finally moved out, one of the first things i did was set up a tank. While researching about saltwater fish and how to set up a tank i stumbled across people growing coral. At the time i had no idea that anyone was doing that and i though it was so cool. My first tank was a 2ft tall hexagonal tank that i got for free from my family. I really had no idea what i was doing at the time and i struggled. i bought your standard beginner soft coral and watched them shrivel in to nothing, It was so frustrating. Within 6 months i kind of felt like i started to learn some things. i got rid of the weird hexagonal tank and bought a 65 aqueon tank. I was still naive and i told myself "i can grow acropora, it cant be that hard" and in all fairness for the period of time i had acro in that tank they were growing. The critical error that i made was buying a bubble tip anemone. That one nem, by the end of it turned in to at least 30. I was the tanks caretaker, it did what it wanted to do, and i was okay with that. I moved recently so i tore that tank down (most of the inhabitants are in a biocube at the moment). I think my next tank will be mainly SPS, maybe i can talk my wife in to letting me set up a 150 peninsula in my living room.
