I recently got 2 wrasse's ( ruby longfin fairy and carpenters flasher ) acclimated and put in my tank. The first few days they were both hiding alot only coming out for feeding, then they were both out for a few days just swimming along. Now the carpenter is hiding and is hardly ever coming out even for feeding and it has some dorsal fin damage. I saw his hiding spot and its in a really tight hole in my scape and it looks like he might have scrapped himself bad. The tank is a waterbox 130 and water parameters were all fine only thing was alk was a bit low but thats getting better now.

This was the only picture I could get of him before he hid again.

It's only those 2 in the tank right now. And aside from flashing at first they swim together when both were out.

I figured that since he didn't seem panicked or breathing heavy he was ok but the damage to his fin looks like he scrapes himself hard getting in and out. All his other fins and tail are fine.

i cant think

All wrasse will hide, especially the wrasse they need time to acclimate. Carpenters and Ruby long fins are already skittish even when established but when not established, they can be a lot more skittish.
Sometimes they hide for days (Although that’s more common in the sand sleeping wrasse)
