Oh good this is reassuring, I already have one kind of high up, but I’m gonna start slowly moving everything up, I will post pictures once acclimated

By the way, since you guys are baking these torches, any things in particular you think contribute to your success? Parameters?, dosing? feeding? just routine maintenance? Anything you’ve noticed that the torches in these power levels really benefit from?

My Goni get anywhere from 350-375 I’ve had them higher around 450 and they were fine. Colors can vary under high vs low light but they seem to thrive in same conditions as SPS ime

High flow and sps quality water along with high lighting and they’re happy!

Sounding better and better. I will be updating the thread as i move things up.

I’ve found my torches are pretty adaptable. I have them mainly middle third, but had one a bit higher than that and it grew like crazy. I fragged it and traded most of it back to my LFS - it’s the one in the middle that’s a bit higher than the others. Since they can be aggressive, I have them in kind of their own sheltered area in the middle of the tank to keep them away from others.

I have 3 gonies - a red and a teal do well in middle third with a little flow. The 3rd is a red that’s very temperamental. It’s completely bleached twice and I’ve brought it back - it needs to be a bit lower and very little flow. When my parameters get a bit out of whack, this one lets me know. It also likes to be fed reef roids every couple of weeks. It’s on the right side of the photo below the one that’s doing well. It has since recovered its color and extension.

I find goni dont love a ton of light. Def more a bottom part of the tank type of coral. Torches can be higher but the best way is to place them sorta medium ish like 150 area and let them show u wether they like more (growing toward it) or less (growing sorta table like, outward) there are other lps mostly encrusting stuff i guess, that like high light, but if u want torches and gonis mostly just turn the light down, say 50-60% and them place them high
Place the torches up so they shade the light coming down to the gonis below them. Or atleast place gonis out toward the edges to not get direct blasted. Do this and all will thrive

Dragon tamers love par and get better with higher par.
Purples dont like a ton, neither do like plain green ones. Most of the neon green types of torches will take alot of par and look good. Malaysian grails will take par also. The og type grails look better in that 150 spot.

They look beautiful. But I know there’s gotta be some of you out there. That are absolutely baking these things. Lol.

You can definitely have them in higher par. Just got to do it slowly for goni.

It also depends on the type of goni. I think gonis have variability in them that not everyone talks about. For example, most can touch, but some with long lashes will sting others to death.

All of these gonis are about 300 par.

I’ve moved a couple up and they’re looking good. I will post some pictures when the whites are back on tommrow.

All these guys are adapting nicely. I have to get a par meter in here but they are in the top third of the tank.

All gonis, except for one, doing well but the one that’s not doing great has never seemed to do well even at lower light intensity.

Update, the one in the middle bleached a little I think because my nutrients got a little high for a while. Otherwise the rest are doing well.
