My zinc is high on my ICP test. What steps should I take?

I noticed that I’ve lost a few heads of LPS corals despite good water chemistry.

Have you determined the source? My high zinc ended up being a metal part on a float valve in my RO water barrel.

Im thinking it’s something in my sump. My kids likes to put stuff in there. I did clean it a few months ago and I had this Problem since last year. My ICP for my RO shows undetectable for zinc. I may have to do a 100% clean of the sump.

Unless it’s the little foil from the mysis packet where you press the cube out and sometime I don’t catch the little foil 🤣

Do you run ecotech pumps? I read the shaft under the ceramic is made of brass a could be a source of zinc.

Using Edward’s Aquifier ground water to grow utilitarian seaweed in outdoor cultivation tanks, when Gracilaria Parvispora was sent off for analysis at a regional agriculture lab, copper was 5ppm and zinc was 2ppm.
Ground water sent in and system water showed zero copper and zero zinc with a lower detection limit of 1 part per billion.

So, macro algae will absorb heavy metals.

I am having a similar high zinc level in my tank but not in my RODI. Can Zinc accumulate in algea or other parts of the tank? My zinc level keeps creeping up. I did hit my tank with some fluxrx about 4 weeks ago and cleared out alot of algea. Would that effect it at all?

Possible. Dead stuff releases all sorts of organics and trace elements.
