so im almost done with my building of my stand, just got to prime and paint. i was wondering is there a certain kind of hinges to get.

Go for something stainless if possible. Regular steel will quickly rust from the humidity in the stand and salt spray. I'm sure you could go with other metals that won't oxidize too quicly, but I think stainless would be your best bet.

is there a certain type that works well, like soft close hinges or is that more of a personal choice?

That's more of a personal preference. I'd narrow down your options by the size/style of hinges and type of metal and then look at your options.

When I did my stand, I used the ones that are preloaded to help close, they were a pack of 10 for about $20. They are flush fit and stainless, i believe i got them at Lowes

I sprayed mine with a silicone spray on my stand one of the doors I got lazy and didnt spray it and it showed I ended up replacing it after a year these are stainless spring loaded hinges
