Hippo tang sores

No clue what this is, it’s definitely not ich. Can anyone shed some light? Fish is acting normal and feeding to this point. Took best pics I could in a hurry.

15 nitrate
.1 phosphate

The sores are all over, I dont see any sign of injury, the sores sort of protrude so to speak.

Im inclined to believe it is flukes actually. I cannot catch the tang, ive tried several times now so a fw dip is out of the question, but I do have prazi on hand.

Tank is super fat, so I know it wont waste away immediately

Yep, gonna does it in a couple hours. Just fed them and it ate like a pig, which was my goal. So now ill be good to dose and add an airstone.

It looks like some spots on the glass are superimposed on the fish? If so, then I would discount ich as well. Prazipro, dosed twice, 8 days apart with good aeration would be a good start I think. It may just be some scrapes, but if you've had the fish less than two months or so, flukes are a possibility.

Ive had the fish for almost 10 months now. I had a copperband infected with neobendenia flukes. I treated 3 times for that. I guess some slipped through and decided to attack the hippo this time.

Neobenedenia is really tough to treat. It only takes one viable egg to continue the infection, and prazi doesn't kill Neo eggs (ugh). Public aquariums have found that it can take five consecutive prazi treatment to fully eliminate Neo.

In my experience, hyposalinity is more effective than prazi at eliminating Neo; half salinity for 35 days works well (a specific gravity of 1.012).
