Got a zoa frag from the lfs today and found this on the bottom of the plug. Any ideas?

Harmless clean up crew warning tho they will multiply drastically but you can get a harlequin shrimp which are super sexy or you can pluck them out once every 3-4 months when the lights come on they will be all over your glass, I took out about half the population I had several months ago very easy

It's an asterina star, he's a harmless clean up crew star, although will multiply like crazy.

Asterina star. I'd remove it. Too many types and no way to tell for sure which eat coral. We unfortunately had the bad ones and they multiply very fast.

I would remove also based on many different kinds and some have been known to eat corals..I had the problem and got a harlequin shrimp and he quickly took care of the problem...

Harlequins are awesome! We liked ours so much we ended up keeping him.

Same here the are awesome looking and a nice conversation piece. I buy cc starfish keep it in the sump and feed it one a week..

Thanks everyone. I put the star in qt while I went to dinner. I'll just dispose of it now that I'm back home.
