Honeymoon Destinations for Reef Enthusiasts?

My fiance and I are getting married soon and we're having a big talk about where to go for our honeymoon. We're both thinking someplace less "touristy" and more tropical. I've always wanted to scuba dive and what better time than on my honeymoon. Any divers out there recommend a good spot for reef diving that's also a good spot for a honeymoon?

Hawaii island hands down the most beautiful place Ive been! Ive been to several places in Mexico and Caribbean and nothing compare to Hawaii IMO. sorry its kinda of a "touristy" spot but its absolutely amazing and breath taking

Indo, Red Sea but you have to go to south Egypt.
Hawaii is fun, hanama bay, it's a tourist spot but its nice ppl go there for a reason.

Hawaiis beautiful but the diving isnt too nice. Yes there are beautiful fish but reefs? None. I have been to bonaire 8 times. By far the best diving I have done. If you go there, even customs know the only thing you're doing is diving. Its a desert island that has flamingos and parrots but other than that, the attraction lies beneath the sea. If you have any questions about it please feel free to ask me. If you can afford it id also say australia, I loved it there as well but it is also by no means, a beginner diver destination

I went to Australia last year. I used this cruise line- Home | Coral Princess Cruises I Australia?s small ship cruise line They are AMAZING. You will not find nicer people (both staff on board and the people in the office). It is not like those big cruise lines with hundreds of people, only 20-30 passengers can be on board. I went scuba diving 6 times (I did a week cruise GBR). It was the best time of my life. The food is incredible, the rooms are amazing. If you can make it to AU, I would do it. It is amazing over there. I also visited Brisbane which is very nice as well, the beaches were pretty incredible.

Yeah I second that. If you decide on australia, go on a live aboard. We did 17 dives over 4 days and dove remote areas that normal dive boats never touch. The name was like spirit of freedom. Like squishie said, great food, great rooms, 15-20 divers, and great people!

Maldives are nice for sure! Never been but want to. I'm telling you though, check out bonaire!! I guaruntee you will love it.

Australia great honey moon

We live in Australia but a fair way a way from the barrier reef so it was fantastic, we stayed at port dougles caught boat out to the reef amazing and great fun

I LOVE... LOVE Cayman. you can easily snorkel reefs right off the beach and great diving as well. rent a car and enjoy the island and it's only really touristy when the cruise ships come in and they tend to stay close to the port. beautiful island and very nice people and no hassles.

I just got back from Hawaii for my anniversary. Stay on the big island, which has fewer tourists and far better reefs and fish than Oahu. I stayed at the South Point Banyan Treehouse. It's essentially a studio apartment (max occupancy: 2) with a clear ceiling, windows all over, and a jacuzzi all to yourself. We paid less per night to stay there than for a tiny hotel room on the edge of Waikiki. It's at the very south end of the island halfway between Hilo and Kona. I saw long nose and raccoon butterflyfish, tons of wrasses and gobies, a hawkish, some angels, loads of orange shoulder and yellow tangs, as well as many many others. Even saw a sea turtle swim by me.

We went to Thailand for our honeymoon and it was the best decision we ever made! There is so much to do...lots of great diving, partying, beautiful beaches, rivers for exotic fresh water fish and its CHEAP!!! The flight will be the most expensive thing...we were there for 10 days and only spent $1k for everything.
