How does everyone QT their fish's and corals.

I'll be getting my main display start of the year and I want to setup a proper QT for new fish and new corals.

Any tips ans advice is welcome.

I hold new corals in their own system for 30 to 45 days, to try and ensure that they don't bring in coral pests. Here is the fish quarantine method that we developed:

Just asking, you are off to a great start!

For fish, I mostly follow Jay Hemdal's thread. Sometimes you may have to pivot in an emergency. IE; I've had fish go downhill in copper so had to do TTM.

I just started to do coral QT and the first go was not so good. Off to do more research!

For my next tank, QT is required. Period. If I get a QT fish from a vendor, I'm still going to QT x14 days for observation. All Corals will be QTd as well

Depends - I usually don’t dip corals unless I see a pest that I need to target.

Yeah I want to be strict with my QT for everything that goes into the DT.

How would inverts get QT?

I dip them at the start and the end of the QT

Everything wet gets qt for 5- 7 weeks. Simple easy tank for coral and inverts as you seen in above example. Dip coral once in and and out unless i see pest. I also dip frag plug or coral depending on what it is with hydrogen peroxide 5 to 1 saltwater ratio. A week or two after adding to qt to deal with nuisance alage.

Certain corals handle it as a dip some can not look it up frag plugs can be dipped or qtipped with hydrogen peroxide

Then copper treat Everything for 15 to 30 days depending on copper used.

Keep it simple and stick with it ounces of prevention is worth hundreds of dollars in coral and fish.

You might want to avoid the peroxide dips as they probably disrupt the corals microbiome.

I usually only dip zoas and alage invested corals but the frag plug is fair game. Rather risk microbiome of certain frags over bubble alage and other nuisance alage. Good thing there is many ways to run a reef tank.
