Goodmorning,
I was just curious with some of your experiences watching your fish increase in size after introducing them to your reef. I never really cared for a larger specimen to start out with. Maybe the larger ones are hardier and more adapted to reef tank life, but I love when they are little guys. Seeing there growth is rewarding, but sometimes I get that feeling akin to watching your kids grow up too fast and then wishing you could wind the clock back to when they were small. I’ve never done a FOWLR system, but I imagine in a big tank, a trigger, angelfish, and something like a Naso tang reach size and maturity quickly. In my current tank, my six spot doubled in size in about 4 months, same with the purple tang, and I think my copperband is almost there for his size potential , and I’ve had him 10 months.
My first tank was neat watching my tangs grow. Got a sailfin, and he quickly became the tank boss and was nicknamed piggy, and definitely did not have a thin and narrow profile like a sail. He was aggressive, but was kind of cool to watch him change colors around me in accordance with his behavior or mood at the time. He would gladly take some nori from my hand. My 2nd tang was a yellow tang and was tiny upon intro. That fish was the sweetest fish, almost like a wrasse, I’d go up to the glass and we would always have a good visit eye to eye. If I had a massive tank, I’d love a little Naso, but on the flip side, one of my favorite fish years back was a Pyramidal Pygmy Hawk. Not that exciting to watch, but a great part of the reef diversity that made the reef more dynamic. Tell me some about your fish, there character and how fast they grow. BTW, just got this fellar, so I’m curious how fast to the rate of his growth, seems like a happy fish!

Ahhh the drama queens of the aquarium. Don't look at them side ways or they run for cover but they have to be in every image. Fox Faces grow fast IME.
