how is everyone controling algea?

not sure if im posting this in the correct place. also not really looking for help solving a tank issue just a general question and some info on my tank and what im doing, and would like to know how evereyone else handles it.

currently my tank is dealing with a bit of bubble algea, mostly it gone now, i used microbacter clean on it, along with manual cleaning, cleaning filters after it gets stuck to them, i use a spong on my big hang on back filter cause of my anemone, dont want it to get stuck in the intake had it happen once, i also am currently useing a UV sterilizer to kill spores, a surface skimmer, along with my snails and hermits, and 1 emerald crab thats left, i have 3 clowns in the tank, 2 3 striped damsels, dragons breath macro, and several corals i honestly dont know what some of them are lol. i do not have access to ro water right now, i am going to fiix that, building my own diy rodi system currently, i do not use a sumb or refug, i do not have space for them, i am planing to get a skimmer that hjangs on the back of the tank soon, and ii am doing 6 hours of light a day, tank is 40g and all perameters are good. i pretty much have the algea under control at this point.

now what i would like to know is how everyou else handles controling algea? im looking for more ideas i can try useing against this algea, i have issues getting new fish here as closests salt store currently is a petco all the smallers ones near me have either went out of buiesness or dont really have much salt any more.

I run an algae scrubber, Keep my Mag at 1455 and have at least a dozen mixed snails

ok so this question might be odd, currently out of the two algea types in my tank, the bubble algea is out preforming the hair algea, so the hair is not growing much, i want the hair algea to grow, have been for a long time now been trying to get it to grow on my back wall, is there some way i can promote the hair algea's growth over the bubble algea?

I am open to input on how to get rid of my GHA forest also lol , I overdosed silicates and nitrate/phosphate to get rid of Dino’s but left with GHA now

good old toothbrush on my gha and a blade for the the glass. I test every 2-3 days as well.

Something to think about is coralline algae. Hair algae will not grow nearly as well if your rock is covered in coralline, though it will still find nooks and crannies.

Bubble is a different monster. I hope to never deal with that stuff again which is why most of my frags get peroxide dipped before they go into my tank.

my second tank has green coraline, my main DT how ever dont have any at all, i do have plans of order some culteres online of some purples.

reason i am trying to figure out if i can promote the hair algea over the bubble is so i can get it to grow on the back wall of the tank, im not actually trying to remove the hair algea, i want it to grow in a certian place.

Lot of agreement all around. No bubbles, but I have seen bubbly things. Variables, blue leg hermits and emeralds, designated feeding patches on the back glass CUCs staying alive and grazing the nursery plugs. Balancing Redsea nopox. Temptation is to turn nopox up, to be lazy about window cleaning, found a first tuft of green hair ball allergy and put it in the fuge chamber with grow light on a timer, as a weed magnet?. I am back to no algae on the glass,with the silty glass film. SS scrub brush clear the landings for zoa transplant migrants, contesting with correline, the surface fuzz is very soft and dissolves easily. Supplement the inverts with Hikari. DipRx and algicide plugs as often as necessary. Put the plugs in sand for a hermit cleaning. Rotate plug stand. Vinegar bowl rinse the flow pump and plastics weekly. Vinegar clean the dosers and re-calibrate. Long light phase, heavy on Blue, corals, growing like crazy maybe room to darken a bit, small tank, getting fuller. No nasties.
