So i got a shipment of some Zoa last week. It's been 4 days so far and 3 of the 4 colonies are open and doing fine. One of them, the WWC AOI is still closed.

How do you know when to give up on them as to not pollute the tank?

What the longest you've seen a colony closed for?

I've had single polyps close, entire colonies close, etc. I even had some more common zoas stuck to rocks that i put into the sump with zero light for months, brought them back to the light and after a little while were getting some color back. They're pretty hardy, if they look like they're melting then that's a cause for concern.

My Hyper Jubliee's stayed closed for almost a year, and were even growing new babies that never opened. Then melted.

That is strange...not the year part, but that it was multiplying and then died.

Did you dip them ?
in what ?
Photo white light ?

I had some close up after a bad salinity spike for over a month. They slowly came back and colored up just fine. Iodine dip was seemingly helpful and lots of patience, they are pretty hardy. What kept me going was the florescence visible under blues inside the hole, might not be relevant for your variety but something to consider.
