How much chaeto algae is recommended per gal

I want to add chaeto to my 470gal fish only tank to control nitrates which have been hovering around 40. How much chaeto would be appropriate to handle this and put a dent in the nitrates?

125g sump filled. Ya only need a small ball in a huge sump to get the ball rolling, but it would take some time to put a dent in that sized tank.
