Last month, there was an outbreak of ich in my tank. The surviving fish have been quarantined. I emptied the tank a few weeks ago, but as my focus was on keeping the fish alive, it was not really cleaned at that time, just emptied and sand removed. Today, I have cleaned the tank more throughly. I am wanting to take any extra steps needed to make sure the tank is clear of ich before setting it up and starting to cycle again. I will be using new sand and new rock. Will the tank having been empty (but not cleaned) and dry for a couple of weeks been enough to kill any ich? Is it necessary to run a bleach solution through everything, and if so, what concentration and for how long? Or something else?

You can do a bleach/water or vinegar water solution with a soft scrub pad and rinse with cool water and reset tank. If tank has been dry, parasites likely died off

I don't know how well it'll work on a dry tank, but I've heard the original magic eraser works wonders, but if you need bleach I believe they make them with that included.

I do not think you need to do that - since the tank was 'dry' - if there is a question whether parts of rock/filtration were wet - they should be soaked in the above mentioned bleach solution rinsed carefully - or treated with chlorine neutralizer and dried. If you just want to clean the tank - vinegar on a pad works well (diluted 1:4) - but not too much pressure to scratch the surface
