Hello fellow reefers,

What’s the best way to completely remove these corals in my tank?
Only been in the hobby 3 months and initially I was happy seeing something growing on my live rock but in this time I’ve now got 6 growing rapidly, want to remove them before they take over and free up space for other corals.

Thanks in advance

Dom

I just pick their little stalks out whenever I do a water change. They certainly grow but they're no where near as invasive as something like blue clove polyps. Just keep it up and pull when you see it. You can usually pull them off by grabbing them at the bottom where their stalk is stuck to the rock. I typically give them away to newcomers (with the applicable warnings) and I've always got one or two growing somewhere. I was able to eliminate them from two of my tanks but the last one is mostly a frag tanks and a few pieces floating around isn't a big deal for me.

Good Luck with that...i've been plucking Kenya Trees for a few years now. These corals are the best survivors around and always seem to pop back up just when you thought you won the battle!

Cut it as close to the rock as you can, then use a disk of coral putty to smother the base, has worked for me in the past. Also useful when dealing with the occasional aiptasia.
