That tank doesn't look like it has ph of 8.4 by itself, are you dosing something to get it that high or test error... either way, 8.4 wouldn't kill anything

My high range ph is 8.4 and found one of my fish dead today how do I lower it
Do a 25% water change, test your phosphate, if it's high use a GFO, it's very safe, and it will help with your algae problem, and look in getting a sump instead of your hang on filter.

Can we assume that you recently added a fish, then the mayhem started?
when was your last creature added ? This is a really good critical question

All that brown algae type stuff could be a Dino outbreak due to low nutrients?

Only takes something to be out of balance and it could cause all sorts of problems and potentially kill your creatures

Do a 25% water change, test your phosphate, if it's high usa a GFO, it's very safe, and it will help with your algae problem, and look in getting a sump instead of your hang on filter.
Great advice here do that water change and re-test
Perhaps take some water to your LFS and get a salt water spin test so it tests for all your chemicals in your tank then you know what to aim for in your recovery
