How would you proceed with this PayPal dispute ?

So I recently bought a Hyrda 32 off a member on here and he didn’t mention that the green LEDs weren’t working . So after trying to contact him through pm I finally got to him through PayPal. He said that everything worked fine when he sent it out and basically said it’s not his fault. A mod told me I should just proceed with a PayPal dispute so I did and only asked for a partial refund.PayPal has decided to let him get the final decision and I have to return everything to get my money back. Sounds like an easy solution but my only problem is that it’s going to cost $50 to send it back.
So should I just let it go since it’s just the greens or spend more money to send it back ?

If the lack of green LED's is going to eat at you then you need to decide if that "eating" is worth $50.00 to you, or not?

My wife purchased an expensive kitchen item that came with a cosmetic dent. She was ok with that at first but changed her mind and is requesting a replacement. No right answer in either case. You have to decide how the green LED's will impact you and your enjoyment (or dissatisfaction) with owning the Hydra without green. I would be disappointed but I wouldn't expect the seller to fix the problem based upon their initial response. Only God knows for sure if the LED's were not working before the light was shipped. Neither of you can really win that argument. Used electronics can easily get broken in postal shipments. Did you have shipping insurance?

Sorry about the green. If I remember correctly that spectrum is mostly cosmetic so the coral won't be impacted.

Anybody on here know how come the green channel of LED's would fail on this light, and how to get them fixed? HTH.

The $50 shipping is what alarms me assuming shipping domestically..should fit in a medium USPS flat rate box. Directly through USPS that is $20 including insurance and delivery confirmation. Can get much cheaper most likely with other options

I'm not familiar with the circuitry in this device, but LED changes aren't typically very complicated. If it's easy enough, replacement LEDs are incredibly inexpensive.

Are you sure you have to pay for a return?

If not as described surely the seller has to pay, I would only consider keeping if they were extremely cheap in the first place. You should also leave a review of the seller, if you notified them within a reasonable time when you received the light, they should refund or at least discount them, if you don’t want a refund.

Thinking about it, as it’s not eBay, they are only concerned with the money that they had a part in, they can’t make the seller pay for the return, they can only deal with the money that left your account I guess.

Something to remember when using PayPal for this sort of thing, you think you are covered but not for returning back to the seller, eBay would have had you covered I believe.

Seller still should do they right thing here.

You wont have to pay to return. On the transaction page , you will see a link that says return shipping reimbursement. GET A RECIEPT for shipping. Email it to them and once the package arrives at sellers house, payPal will reimburse you. Ive been reimbursed twice with no issues

In the email it tells me I’m responsible for all shipping cost. No mention of a reimbursement of shipping cost

Call PayPal 888-221-1161 and have them walk you through it

You bought a working 100% light, unfortunately you didn’t get what you bought , I would dispute it for a full refund and let that jerk get no money from me.you’re a good guy for wanting only a partial.
