We are slowly getting back into the hobby, but a serious problem haunts us.

We had a uncovered 75g, 20g sump, a 29g, and 25g holding tank. We started having humidity in the house and even some mold in small dark areas, so we bought a dehumanizer and it ran cycled on & off 24/7. A large store has all of the tanks with lids, and if I remember correctly for many,....years it was suggested that covering tanks would hold trapped toxins, so people kept lids on all tanks.

You would think that aquarium stores would have major mold problems as the humidity is very high. One local store has been in business has been there since 1973. The attic must,...have mold and mildew ???

What do you do ?

I have a Tapo Temp/Humidity sensor in my living room with my 65g reef, and 75g blackwater tank. Some days the humidity in here can be 80%+, but there is no mold or mildew.

Dehumanizer? If there are no humans they wont see the mold, darn alien tech! lol jk
Yes, a dehumidifier will work without modifying your house or spending $1000s on an air exchanger. My fish room gets into the 60% range with 100s of gallons of water mostly without lids and a dehumidifier running constantly no mold, cant say the same for the basement though (basement leaks in heavy rain). I just clean it off the places it shows up a little bleach in a spray bottle or hydrogen peroxide. I installed an exhaust fan in the basement window to help seems to slow the process. Air flow is a huge help as well if the air is just stagnant its more likely to encourage mold growth. Ever notice a lot of lfs have dark colored walls?

I have a 120gal with open top. Humidity could get up to high 50s during spring/summer. I had (4 ) 12"x12" returns installed in each bedrooms ($1500) along with the main 20"x24" return and that helps keeping it in high 40s.
