Hydra 26 HD mounting orientation?

I have a Red Sea Reefer 250 (36 x 20 x 21) and I am planning on running 2 of these lights. My question is, should I mount them so that the pucks go front to back or side to side? I was think side to side.

How will I get the best overall coverage?

If your going to run 2 I personally would try front to back first, it should give you maximum coverage. In all honesty I would try both just to see.

I mounted them side to side, and I have seen a thread about using small TV mounts so that you can move the light were you would like them. My setup I use two kessel goose necks

Yea I completely understand that it seems like the SW community over seas has a bit more freedom than here. Now by the time you figure shipping on that mount we would be looking at over a 100 just for the mount.

Looking at them you should be able to have them made fairly cheap and you can order the tank brackets from the AI stands. Should save you a ton.

Who would someone go to in order to have something like that fabricated. I am on the useless side of handy...LOL, but I'm also cheap. Not a good combination in this hobby for sure.

Its not the worst of a price if you consider a radion mount for xr 15 is around 90 dollars. In norway mine cost me 150 bucks. For a clean look i think in the long run it would be worth buying them.

£65.99 is $96 US. The larger ones costing £84.99 around $124. I am in the UK and these are little more than some bent sheet aluminium with a plastic bracket attached and not everybody is happy with them. IMO they are overly expensive for what they are but you could say that about lots if things in this hobby.

Here's something to consider. I have my mounts connected to my stand. It's 2 closet shelving that I got from the hardware store. Might spark some ideas for you. And best part is that I can easily adjust the height. I hope this helps.

Orienting them long-ways will give you the best coverage given your tank measurements. My suggestion would be to use the AI hanging kit, or to purchase the Radion mounts and modify them to work with the AI's. I saw somewhere on R2R where a guy had done that using a piece of acrylic with a couple of mounting holes drilled in it and either a spacer or a circular cut in the acrylic where the fan is located.
