If we rule out HP to control Dinos or Diatoms , what would be an alternative way to attack this problem?

I don't have any great method for dinos, so I wouldn't preclude hydrogen peroxide. :)

I've been trying CO2 export+O2 enhancement to help control diatom blooms when testing glycerine and peroxide spot treating. I run an O2 concentrator at 3 to 5lpm through a long air stone in my overflow. It seems to shorten the bloom period and I'm not scraping as much or as often.

Would the stannate bind to GFO or all types of phosphate removers?

It might, but I do not know. In seawater is is probably present as Sn(OH)4, and I'm not sure if that will attach to GFO.

Could it be Stannate that does the magic of eradicating the Dinos?
Or is it the Peroxide.

Kinda like the Kent magnesium eradicating Bryopsis, it is most likely the elevated levels in lithium.

I don't know, but I'd guess it is the peroxide.

Why do you think it is lithium in the kent product that has the effect?

Just anecdotal.
I heard many trying to dose mag. chloride and sulfate and not being successful, but many did well with Kent marine mag. additive which is known to have elevated levels of lithium.

I agree with all that except I've never heard it has elevated lithium, nor have I ever seen any chemical analysis of it. Do you recall where you saw it?

I use sodium percarbonate to clean my filter socks...just curious, what would happen when added to seawater? I'd guess the effect on dKH and pH would limit its usefulness

Yes, it would likely raise pH and alkalinity just like sodium carbonate, but a little bit less of each since it is effectively diluted a bit by the hydrogen peroxide.

Would dipping liverock in hydrogen peroxide help eliminate bubble algae?

Probably, if given enough exposure, but it will also kill other things.

It works. I had an infestation and removed the LR and sprayed Hydrogen Peroxide 3 times over 5 to 7 minutes and scraped visible bubbles off sprayed 1 more time an then I dippped in saved water from WC 2 times to remove as much crud as possible

Randy,
He also mentioned to me to stop dosing HP and just dose Sn. to see if it would accomplish the same thing . I am not willing to take that chance. Lol.
Or dose ozone which then will eliminate the Sn.

Up to 82.5 ml of HP for 140 gallon system and still no signs of improvement. Going to increase the dosage to 99 ml .

Thanks for that link.
Wow! I thought it would be free from tin. Therefore 3% non food grade HP could potentially have way more?

The other option is to use GFO to remove tin.

Maybe. I really do not know the levels used for stabilization.

I thought I replied to this, but I guess not.

I wouldn't want to experiment on my tank with tin additions.
