Hydroids

Hi guys
I'm getting a break out in hydroids on live rock. Just wondering how others have managed to get rid of them. I ask my lfs and he said on your next water change just siphon them of. I'd like hear your taught.

welcome james,i've never had any kinda of roids so i'm not much help but i'm sure others will chime in and help ya out.i would post some pics so others can see exactly what you are dealing with.good luck to ya.

Cheers for replying I'm only in the hobby since the start of the year so I'm still new to this. I'l put up a pic now.

I would soak the rock in some muratic acid, that should kill the hydroids.

Would that kill all the beneficial bacteria on the rock also. I have some corals on the rock. Don't really want to disturb them because in the last week or so my green tree coral (nephthea I think it's called) has start doing well when I taught it was dieing. :D

I have a cleaner shrimp some snails and a hermit in the tank will it effect them.

I have 90l tank with 2 clowns, sand sifting goby, cleaner shrimp, couple of snails, and a hermit. Filtration is built into the back of the tank. I wasnt going to get and more tank mates because I don't want it getting to crowded. Would you put the fly fish in or leave him out. I actually seen one in the lfs and liked the way move around.

90l may be too small for an adult filefish.

I imigine you could super glue over them. I pulled the rock out and broke it in half with a hammer and chisel. I put the half with the hydroids in a pico jar for fun. It's really no maintenance at all. I added aiptasia too.
