I’m considering the new Hydros Maven that’s supposed to be available this black Friday. I was hoping to get some feedback back regarding Hydros controllers in general. I generally don’t buy a newly developed product with no track history. What is your opinion regarding Hydros products and would you buy the Maven.
Thank you for your advice.

As far as I'm aware the maven isn't slated for a black friday release. There's been some speculation that it might come out this holiday season, but nothing concrete that I've seen.

So far, I really like the hydros equipment. The controllers seem quite reliable and not too difficult to set up plus they embrace DIY equipment. I much prefer it over apex because Neptune is owned by Bulk Reef Supply, which is owned by Aperture pet and life, which is owned by a Private Equity firm Bertram life. Coralvue is its own company. Id rather my money go to a privately owned American company than a private equity firm.

Source?
A major player in the reefing business. But there has been other release dates in the past that have come and gone with no maven on the shelf. Just have to wait and see but I like that they’re holding back to make sure all the bugs are worked out first.

Probably more like how to make it work as promised. Under promise and over deliver is how it's supposed to go. I think they did it backwards with the maven.

So no source.

Only trusted info on any Hydros releases should come only from Coralvue, which nothing has been announced that I am aware of.

I love Hydros. I bought the system because of the Maven supposedly being released and it seemed like a good alternative to Neptune Systems. I find the hydros a bit more solid, the customer service has been much better, and although some will disagree with me (again), I find it more intuitive. Sure you can’t do all the fancy programming some people like with Apex, but if you want straightforward, reliable, and easy to work with I’d take hydros over Neptune systems any day.

Agree.

Alternative aside many argue this very reason is why they pre-launched the Maven when they did.

Up to the hobbyist to decide if that is true.

It is. OP was asking for hobbyist feedback, which I gave. I’ve used, and still use, both systems. I started with Apex, and still have an apex on my SPS dominant tank only because I use Kalkwasser on it and what more frequent testing. All the other tanks I run hydros.

Although I am thinking about getting the IV Pro and switching it to hydros as well since I am focused exclusively on alk and pH with that tank now as my primary concerns.

I am disappointed that the maven has not, and may not ever, be released for sure. But, I am still very happy with the platform and the solid customer service I have received.
