I’m dreaming of a reef Christmas! How does your reef tie into your holiday celebration?

I’m dreaming of a reef Christmas,
With every tang I see,
Where corals glisten and anemones listen,
To hear pumps whirring in the sump.

Realizing that the holiday season means many things to each of us. For some it is about family, taking time to reflect, and settling in for a cozy weekend. For others it may be a whirlwind of travel, a house full of guests, and frantic craziness of last-minute shopping for the last-minute gifts. Whatever the pace or reasons that you celebrate this time of year, please let us know how (and if) your reef ties into your holiday celebration?

“We differentiate ourselves from other vendors by offering our customers full transparency into our facility and practices. Setting the industry standard for shipping techniques, accurate high-quality photos, hard to find corals, and customer service. For some hobbyists buying live coral online can seem like a risky endeavor. At WWC our staff takes the worry out of the equation by culturing extremely healthy corals, giving you a hassle-free guarantee, and providing you with a full online customer service team to ensure you are completely satisfied with your purchase.”

I voted other because I try not to celebrate holidays. If family is in town we probably would but the dogs couldn't care less and I'm in the same boat with them so no holiday decorations here. My Gal likes to decorate a little for the seasons, fall stuff on the porch in Oct etc but the holidays here get a pass.

if a tank replaces relatives, friends. (UNLESS OF COURSE - someone has none of these). As to the video - I think almost everyone would rather have the personal feelings of the vendor. Assumedly - this is a kind of joke/not sure.

Tank focus around the holiday centers around me doing everything possible to keep it from crashing while we are enjoying a trip with family.
Yup, preparation was made back in September before all the distractions of the seasons and holidays started.

I did accidentally force an anemone to split but that was coincidental and had nothing to do with HoHoHo, etc.

My wife has been very ill for the past 9 months, and still is, after a screw-up in an otherwise-routine hospital visit. She now suffers from crushing anxiety because of what they did to her brain, and her life is a shadow of what it was as a result.

The tank has basically been ignored during that time, rushing from specialist to specialist to try and figure out what happened, but now it is coming into its own because watching the fish swim calms her. I have done more maintenance on the tank in the last week or two than I have in the last 3/4 of a year...

Of course the parameters are all out of whack, but that is something I can manage over time. It's entirely possible the tank is preserving her sanity right now, so it's right up there on the list of things to do. It's going to be a pretty miserable christmas, but at least the tank will play its part in lifting her spirits.

Whilst I don't go decorating the tank or anything, it's in the room that has the Christmas tree and this year in particular it's only just got up and running so there'll be a bit more focus on it perhaps than there normally would be.

It’s a bit more a part of the seasonal deco this year as the reef went being in the study/office space to the living room . My wife bought a light up garland that looks nice and doesn’t draw attention away from the main attraction

So sorry to hear, I’ll keep you and your wife in my prayers!

My tank is in the same room as our tree so you can’t miss it during the Celebration. After my wife badgered me on what I wanted for Christmas, I came across a great deal on a Pectinia I had been eyeing on Cyber Monday. I said here you go this is what I want. Christmas present already added. I asked my kids for some wall art to hang above my tank. It came, I know because my wife handed me the box but I had to tell her I hadn’t ordered it. They will be going up Christmas Day. Merry Christmas everyone!

I’m so sorry to hear that. I’m glad to hear the tank is giving her some peace though. Something about them are so, so calming. I have mine (nano) in my bedroom for meditation purposes. Sending love and prayers from SC to yall and I hope she gets better.

I/we may be in a similar situation. My wife had numerous surgeries with anesthesia and that was bad but a recent episode was kicked off with an novel antibiotic that ruined her gut health and depression, anxiety, and metal outlook became challenging and continues to routinely ruin our days.
Keep on reefing and praying for improvement. Not many options that I can find otherwise.
