I Built an open-source LED controller and app from scratch

HỏiSo great I will learn and dissect Atlantik v4 gen 2 if your design and app can meet the requirements, currently the v4 app is very bad

Hey guys, it seems many in this thread are interested. I'm considering launching a crowdfunding campaign on CrowdSupply for the standalone controller and a complete LED kit. If successful, CrowdSupply's parent company Mouser Electronics will handle global logistics and sales, but they require a minimum order, like 100 units.
Not sure if we can meet that.

This is my test setup, I've been running my LED 24/7 at 100% power for 12 days, working perfectly. Room temperature is 24°C, light temperature is 45°C, and fan speed is ~67%.

I turned off all channels except the white one when taking the photo. You may see dust starting to build up on the fan.

Oooh, okay, this is really cool. I'm gonna be starting up a new tank in the coming months after not having had one for years and was needing a PWM solution for my old lights. They were DIY Lumia 5.2 puck based and they still work really well, but the Jarduino controller they were running off was... not elegant. And then it died, so...

Any chance of getting a BOM for the project? The github hints at the existence of one but I couldn't find it. Either that, or mark me down as being interested in getting a premade one if that becomes an option.

I don't know why everyone keeps asking this.

The project's hardware is designed with Horizon EDA (https://horizon-eda.org). Just download and install Horizon EDA to open the design source files (.hprj) in the repository, modify them, and export BoM, Gerber files, or anything else you want.

Y'know, it should have occurred to me that I could do that. That's what I get for looking at stuff when I'm half awake. I was looking for EagleCAD files and completely glossed over the Horizon thing.

I'll go do that. Thank you for the direction.

Pencil me in for 3 or maybe more of them if you get to the point of trying to get crowdfunding going. Send me a pm if you dont get quick response from me on this thread.
I think you have done a great job!

i would be in for a couple stand alone controllers to retrofit.

sent you a PM

Your project looks awesome. I'm also from the planted side though I did dabble in reefkeeping some time ago. I made a basic DIY WRGB light a decade ago which finally died last year and couldnt find the source of the problem and repairing it without breaking it down fully and remaking it from scratch, which I didnt have time for.

I replaced it with an off the shelf "candybar" model but its fallen a bit short. I checked out similar lights from other manufacturers but they all have their own shortcomings. Researching ideas for a modern, smart DIY lights is what led me back to Reef2Reef after a long time and I was lucky enough to find your thread

I have some ideas on what would make a great planted tank light but unfortunately I dont have any skills with PCB design and assembly or software. Do you think I could PM you my ideas and see if your controller and App could handle it ?

Yes please, I appreciate any comments and suggestions.

Update:

I've added support for the Seeed XIAO-ESP32C3 module in the firmware code. You can now flash the firmware straight onto the XIAO-ESP32C3 and use it as an LED PWM controller. Since it's not my custom hardware, it only supports 6 LED PWM channels and one manual fan PWM output.
