Alright...so I just started cycling my new innovative marine nuvo 40 with dry rock and Dr. Tims bacteria. Everything was going well until I actually read the bottle of bacteria that I had just dumped in the tank. I thought it was strange when I saw a picture of a cichlid on the front. Well... turns out I used the FRESHWATER bacteria:eek:. So I hope this won't hurt anything other than kill the bacteria and waste the bottle. Now I'm off to buy some of the saltwater bacteria.

Not to worry. I did the same thing when I cycled my Nuvo 30. I ordered off Amazon and never checked.
I did a 100 % water change and the the correct Dr Tim's and now 8 weeks later doing very well.( I did however mess up the Amonium dosing , see my thread ) I do like Dr Tim's good stuff although Ihave no experience with other bacteria. Three tanks and no problems with cycling. I am going to buy a gallon of the stuff when I cycle the planned 130 next year.

Do you think I would have to do a 100% water change? Would the dead freshwater bacteria provide ammonia for the new correct bacteria?

To put your mine at ease contact customer support of Dr. Tim's. I don't a water change is needed.

IF YOU HAD TO OPERATE EVERYTHING ELSE MANUALLY, WHICH AUTOMATED SYSTEM WOULD YOU KEEP?
