This is posted in the sps/small polyp forum are you sure that is a stony coral? Almost looks like a Sinularia see link below.

Or another soft coral type perhaps?

If it is indeed a Small Polyp Stony coral an image with polyps extended and coralite structure would be of great assist.

I agree it looks like a leather of some sort just polyps not extended.
