I need help picking a pump please help

I am starting a saltwater aquarium (55 gallons) and I want to know if a 315 ghp pump would work as a return pump from the sump to the tank. The stand is 32 inches high and the tank is 20 inches high.please help thank you

It might work but by time the water reaches the display tank the gph will probably be low. You should go with a bigger pump and dial down the gph as needed. There are flow rate calculators on the internet to help with your decision on a pump.
