Can anyone ID this ? The white fuzzy stuff has been here about 2weeks . The long hair looking stuff is somewhat new it shows up every morning now when the lights go on I’ve remodeled my house the past 5 weeks and tried to cover tank as best I could but this issues has showed up . Not sure If it’s related or not .

I am suspecting that this is some kind of bacterial bloom.

Or early stage of chrystophytes.

No3 is 0 . waiting for my Po4 kit to arrive . Both are very easy to remove by either brushing it away or using a power head to blow it off I’m not doing nopox or biopellets .. just a skimmer and weekly water changes .tank is approx 2-3 months old.

Bacteria and blooms will blow off with a turkey blaster and the rock will look clean.
Chrysto and algae's will not.

I may have a couple things going on then . The stuff below the fish in the last pic blew off really easy . The white fuzz doesn’t blow off at all .

Well, read that thread. It’s kinda common now with the dry rock and no no phosphates thing.
Also a general cause of dinos.

Thanks for the link .. boy have things changed since I had my last tank almost 15 years ago ! I ordered a phosphate test kit last night but it won’t be delivered until Monday so maybe I’ll go locally and see if they have any in stock.

I went a got the Hanna phosphorus ultra low range today and it reads 28ppb or.086ppm? Would this make sense with no3 at 0?

Po4 and no3 build at different rates and are not relative. So yes. It makes sense.

What you may need to do, is increase no3 and Po4 and dose bacteria. Scrub.

I’m so confused where my levels should be now . I thought no3 should be below 5ppm and po4 was.03ppm (I thought I read) is this correct ?what would I increase them to?

The concern , to be clear , is the organism you appear have is most commonly seen in tanks with very or severely low nutrients, mainly Po4.
The nitrifying bacteria die off and the organism becomes dominant. Usually it’s dinos.
The general cure is to increase the no3 and Po4 to feed the bacteria (and supplement from bottle)while manually removing the organism. Toothbrush, uv and scrub , fluconazole.
Increased bio diversity additions have also been shown to to be effective, Fuji mud, Garf grunge , live rock etc. as it’s both bacterial and has micro organisms like diatoms zoo ox and a plethora of others to compete.
