ID help. Fastest Hermit I have ever seen!

Quick little guy. Any experience with whether these are reef safe would be excellent.
 
I'm not that familiar with inverts but looks to me like he needs a new shell.
 
Seems to only be eating algae so far. Any idea on name anyone?
 
Looks very similar to the long-wristed hermit crabs native to the U.S. northeast coast. Pretty omnivorous, not sure if it's reef-safe or not . . . They are quick and active.

That is exactly what it is. I confirmed they are native from Nova Scotia all the way down to Texas in the Gulf.
 
defiantly try to get a couple new shells for him. He looks really cramped in there.
Not sure what kind it is. Not a hermit expert.
 
He seems to be fine. He has plenty of options for larger shells.
 
Ok, I have never seen a hermit crab like that before.
