Thanks, I wondered if they might be bleached or if they are supposed to be that colour?

How long have they been in the tank?
And it looks like they might be reaching for light, what kind of light do you have?

They must have came in on the live rock about 4 months ago. They are on a peice that is on the sand, I'll maybe try moving it higher? I have 4 t5's over a 450 litre tank.

Move them up a little and get a few more pics and maybe we can try to figure out what they are.

So I moved them higher up late last night, the lights have been back on for a couple of hours this morning. The pic doesn't really show but they are definitely starting to colour back up, they are turning pink/red.

Sorry for taking so long to answer! I have 3 Blue Plus and one white bulb in just now. No particular reason for this choice of tubes other than Im hoping to move to leds soon so I'm just using up the bulbs I've got rather than buying more!

So after about a month of giving moving these up closer to the light and spot feeding them every couple of days they have changed to this:

Does anyone know what kind they are?

I'm actually pretty proud of the difference and the way they have really coloured up!

Thanks! They were almost pure white before when I found them bordering on being see through! I didn't have much hope that they'd turn into anything as they were just on a bit of live rock I bought! I'm still relatively new to reef keeping so I'm chalking it up as a win[emoji3][emoji3]

One of my hermits was crawling over them just before I took the pic so once the all open back up I'll get some better pics of them all!

Sorry to bump my own thread but wondered if anyone could ID these for me now that I've managed to nurse them back to health?

Thanks.

Some people call them green implosions They are a proto paly and will respond well to feeding even large particles like mysis. They can get one of the most intense dark green colors on the reef, yet aren't really worth much. I sell globs of these for $10 at coral swaps to the crowd looking for cheaper corals and pretty much sell out everytime. There are 2 versions one that gets a brown rim just before the skirt and one that only shows the green coloration, looks like you have the one with brown. There is also another variation people call mindblowing, and those are purple and green.

Also I should note, these get extremely slimy if you cut them, stress them out, and if you do I would wear gloves as I believe these are the ones that basically invented the term "paly toxin". So definitely do not boil the rock if you decide to get rid of them. Bad idea.

Thank you! The colours are a wee bit off in the pic and they are more purple and green than brown.
