It's a hitchhiker. I got the rock (and tank) when a local reefer sold it to me a couple of weeks ago. It was a few years mature. I'm pretty sure it's an SPS and it seems to be doing well and growing. It's encrusting but does have some protrusions. It doesn't seem to appreciate high flow. Any ideas on what it is and the best way to bring out it's color? With the LEDs on actinic only it seems to have a deep, but dull red coloring and the skin seems purplish. The color's not especially exciting but it's really exciting that it's doing well since I eventually would like to keep a few SPS

Montipora Digitata is a good possibility. Typically it's a branching sps, that looks to be a piece that has encrusted to the rock work. It should branch out eventually. Sps require stable Ca/Alk/Mag levels close to normal salt water/NSW.

Montiopra Digitata are good measuring sticks on alk. If they are not open, happy, then some of your levels are off.

Wow I didn't think it'd be a a monti. I'm excited to see it truly branch out! I'll keep and eye on it, I've got a 10 gallon water change ready for the occasion and a red sea alk/calc/mag test kit coming in soon. If I do see any changes and the water changes don't fix it I'll pick up some kalk at the LFS. Do you think my positioning is suitable? It's about a foot underwater with 2 46 watt LEDs (Orbit Marine 48").

Also if anyone is interested I made a tank thread for it https://www.reef2reef.com/threads/neidans-100g-rimless.243481/
