I have not tried the dcs line yet , but if you have a very silent tank then the dc line produce a annoying high pitch noise that is just audible. Tunze pumps I have found to be the quietestDoes anyone know if DC pumps like the Jebao DC series are quieter or product less hum?
I think this one of the most understated improvements that can be made to plumbing in this hobby. Silicone tubing is more expensive and difficult to find at times, but it's absolutely amazing compared to vinyl. It maintains perfect memory so you can't kink it permanently, it doesn't fight you to retain a coil, and it can be safely cleaned with rubbing alcohol and survive high temperatures. I think if a supplier gets in few different colors of it in our common hobby sizes they could be a serious go to for the high-end sump designs. You can also use silicone tubing instead of vinyl. I had vibration traveling up the hose and vibrating against other things outside of the sump. I replaced the vinyl with silicone, vibration stopped.
Reef octopus Varios 6 dc pump. Slow start up, uses way less power , variable speed, battery back up, and comunicates with apex. ..and so quiet you won't know it's running at half speed.
My mag drive 24 is in the basement. I have it sitting on filter material I clean every once and awhile. I can still hear it from upstairs. I even removed a foot of pvc and ran a chunk of flexible to lessen vibration. Still stinks. Dc are the way to go.
Well said, I purchased mine from BRS, it is expensive for sure but worth it.I think this one of the most understated improvements that can be made to plumbing in this hobby.
