Hello everyone,

I am getting back into the hobby and I picked up a Waterbox Marine X 110.4 used for a great deal. Looking to get it set up.
Dimensions - 47.2" x 19.7" x 21.7" - 80 gal display.

I am on the part where I need to decide what lighting I want to go with and I could use some insight if anyone has any. I am having a hard time deciding between these 2 lights.
I'm thinking of either going for 2 of this combo or getting this full combo.

I am very interested in the classic Euphyllia. Torches especially. But I would like to dabble with acros down the line.

Pros of the ReeFi is it is customizable.
Cons just the price really.

Pros of the Pixels is the price.
Cons is they don't seem to be customizable.

Does anyone have any thoughts on this?

Thanks in advanced.

Have you looked into these lights also ? Quanta Atlas, Nicrew gen 2, Noopsyche

What is your budget ?

What are you looking at the most in a light ? Spectrum, Coverage, Par intensity, interface, customization of the parameters.

I mean the 2 Uno Pros together will be about 1k. So that's my maximum.

I think I like those the best but I was just curious to see if there is anything to be said about the Pixels for a larger aquarium.

I guess I care most about spectrum, coverage and par. If the app control isnt that amazing or nice UI, I dont really care.

I can't comment on the pixels but I haven't seen bad comments on the ReeFi when I was looking at them.

The atlas has a nice spectrum, coverage and par for 499$/each if you want to take a look, they're new in the market. Plug and play.

I think at that price point I like the Unos better. I think that’s kinda what I’m gonna go for unless someone says something really good about the pixels. I really appreciate your input though.

4 Pixels is only 100w at full (25W each) .
Their 4 puck x4 is listed at 120w and seems to use the same pucks.. but..
Anyways that's still only 30 w each.
No spectrum
No par data.

2 Unos is 540W total (270w each).
Spectrum
Channels
PAR

There are a lot of lights for a 48" 80gal tank

Pixels are not adustable right out of the both, but you can get the dimmer and fim the whole array, not individual channels. X4 is fully controllable.

I have seen the Pixels and X4 in action at WWC they look amazing.

I would go with the Reefi's.

The dimmer is the reason why I couldn't pull the trigger on this. For $200 single pixel kit, I'd rather get the A8 or Orphek OR4 bar. The dimmer is another manual thing to check instead of the phone.

Exactly. Sometimes those little nano/pico lights aren't worth it. Even though its a great option,I don't find it justifiable. Especially if you need 2,you are getting into the Hydra 32,Reef Factory Flare, used Radion XR15 territory. Which is nuts.

I have Reefis and love them. Lights come with 90 and 120 reflectors so if you need a bigger coverage you have it. 270w will deliver almost any amount of par needed. They are a self contained unit all dimming, schedule, color combos you need are controlled through the unit. Web based app so all you need is wifi and a tablet, phone or computer, its pretty easy to use but does have a little bit of a learning curve (at least for me). I currently have 1 on a 28x28x24 mounted 11" off the water running at about 170w getting right around 300 par at the corals 12" under water using the 120 reflector. I am setting up a 180g standard using 3 with 90 reflectors mounted at about 14" off the water. When I tested the light the 90 wasnt enough coverage for the 28x28 but with the 90 on it and running at about 200w I had over 500 par on the sand bed but wasnt good near the edges of the tank. 90 reflector are good for 24x24 the 120 is more like 36x30 or something like that. You can also run it without reflectors and have 160 degrees covering a larger area at the cost of watts or par of course.

I have never used the pixiels they look nice but seem way under powered and not controllable with a set spectrum.
