Ever get so anxious to start a thread and then forget what you're going to say?

Ok so HOW do some of these places get such great pics of their corals? Someone said that there's some sort of tube that goes down into the water and has an orange filter on it? I need some advice here. I got a WICKED good deal on a Canon 70D and a lense but now I need a way to take the pics and nothing I do seems to be working.

There's lots of advise here.

The basics are a 'look down box' which can float on the water and allows you to look (or photograph) straight down into the tank without interference from the surface wave action.

I made one out of a clear piece of acrylic and a 3" to 6" pvc pipe adapter. The small end fits over the lens of my camera and the clear end can go in the water.

A yellow filter will make aquarium photos look much better if you run a lot of blue spectrum in the tank. It takes away most of the blue hue and still allows the coral colors to 'POP'!

I found the best way for me to get good photos is with a Tough Camera. I use an Olympus Tough One when we go snorkeling and it works great inside the aquarium as well. I got mine used on ebay for $100.

This was taken with my SG6 phone (old) and a small sample of yellow filter material I got for free as part of a big sample pack with over 100 filter samples. There's like 10 different shades of yellow to pick from.
