I'm trying to get an abalone for my aquarium. Is an ezo abalone okay for my aquarium?

The only abalone i can find in stock online are from Hawaii. They grow them to eat but they also ship live abalone. Are all abalone similar in needs?

You cam keep them. I would not necessarily use one of those in a tank.

Just an educated guess, but I think abalone would starve in reef tank.

Happen to visit a marine research facility and spoke to them about abalone

1) Make sure the subspecies you get is good for tropical water - most abalone are found in cold water
2) Make sure you have a proper feeding method for them - once they have mowed down your existing algae
3) They live very long roughly 30 years and sometime upto 100+ so be ready for that plan

they are beautiful and also few species are highly endangered (e.g. while abalone)

Biggest thing to check is if the abalone you're purchasing is ok in tropical temps. Some of the varieties for sale occasionally are temperate species or cool water species and wont survive long at 78-83

Edit: pt 1 above beat me to it! :p

Ive had this one for a year. Only comes out from Midnight to 3am, then goes back to the same exact place behind a rock on bottom of back glass until the next night. Very cryptic creature.
