Implementing a "like" feature

I have thought about it in the past and saw a post today about a possible "like" feature that could possibly be added. It would be nice to be able to click like on a post that you agree with or like. Is this at all possible? Like would be the new generation of +1.

I love the "like" button! My home forum has it. Very much used by all :)

There's one already there. It's a little badge on the bottom left of each post. You can see who approves or disapproves of your posts under the settings tab.

Anytime my friend, anytime. I don't think anyone knows its there due to such a small icon and it adds reps to the member but it can't be seen?

Ahh, yeah I forgot about that one.

The other forum I saw the like button had it setup so when you did read something that you thought was relevant or you just agreed to, when you clicked it, a little strip above the post you liked would have your user name saying that you liked when the person said.

That's exactly what I had in mind. Seems like a great feature.

we've got that over at nano-reef, I think overall people like it.

the other thing I'd like to see here (and every other forum) is notification bubbles, kind of like facebook (also over at nano-reef), it makes it super easy to know when someone has quoted you or "liked" something you said. after being spoiled over there, it's hard not to want it on every forum..

not trying to come off as advertising for another forum or whatever (hey we can all get along can't we? :)), I just really like those features.

We have the same thing on chicagoreefs and I like it. We also have a thank button next to the like. I think the "like" and "thank" button help clean up threads and also include more people who don't really like posting "Nice", "Great photo", "Beautiful tank" type responses.
