I think this would be useful as well...clean up some threads with redundant posts.

I know you can do it on vBulletin version 5, but does version 4 support it?

Yes. I am the admin on TCMAS and implemented something like that.
Attached some pics how it looks like. We are using "Thanks, dislike and very helpful" but the options can be changed just to anything you want.
Optional it can be shown in the users stats how much he has given or received.

All of those options are nice. Let's face it, sometimes we see some bad advice on the forums and a dislike feature would be nice as well as like.

Not sure I would like the disagree button.
Be too easy to just bomb a persons thread without posting why.

I like the dislike option, can quickly discern trolls and bad advice.

A like option is nice. A dislike option might make newer hobbyist reluctent to participate. Seems if you disagree with what you might consider bad advice simply stating why in a diplomatic manner allows others to debate the point and perhaps learn something.

Exactly, I personally have an issue with some people providing poor advice, one of them is even a "R2R Guide". This person consistently provide inaccurate advice. It takes a lot of time and energy to correct people when they're wrong, a dislike button could be a time-saver. Clearly it could be abused so it's kind of a non-starter on e R2R. It would be against the "friendly atmosphere".

On a forum we want to encourage posting. That's what it's all about really. If we have a LIKE button I think posting will go down. What do you think? I'll think about it and talk it over with the mods and some other forum owner friends of mine. May seem like something simple but it's really not. I have to heavily weigh every option to maintain the health of our community long term as well as short term. Thanks.

We know that...it's really just a projector, smoke, and lighting...but the curtain makes it work...you may not be "the wizard", but you're still "our wizard." LOL
