Update, I decided not to do in tank cipro… thanks so much, all, for walking me through this discussion! I have found fish Cipro to be a really helpful product, cheap and effective, and I have been doing baths as needed… Seems to stop necrosis and bacteria dead in its tracks.

No, thats too much. You only want about 12.5mg cipro. Dosed after lights out, day 1, 3, and 5.
Mix 500mg cipro and 500ml rodi, then dose 12.5ml at a time

Has anyone successfully treated an elegance coral with this? I started treating my elegance two days ago with Cipro. I chose to use a hospital tank instead of treating the entire display tank, no signs of improvement yet, still a lot of white web like stuff on it.
Should I replace some of the water during treatment to replenish nutrients?

No, thats too much. You only want about 12.5mg cipro. Dosed after lights out, day 1, 3, and 5.
Mix 500mg cipro and 500ml rodi, then dose 12.5ml at a time

Following the calculation above, you would mix 500mg cipro and 500mL RODI and then dose 7mL (7mg) into your 14gal tank on day 1, 3 and 5 after lights out.

It is a common treatment for bacterial infections in anemones so I would think not. I have used to treat a nem and in tank. Make sure your using it for the right reasons

I would think not as cipro is broken down by light.

Corals are inverts. Just saying. But no it will be fine. It can and will possibly wipe out your biological filter though.

Absolutely turn the UV off!

Generally, if dosing Cipro you want to dose when the lights go down as its readily broken down by light.

There are varying recommended protocols as to how to dose. The most common I've seen is like every other day or two for a ~week (3 doses). When I ran cipro, I gave smaller daily doses for a week knowing that the lights will degrade, etc. Others as mentioned, will space the dosage out, giving larger doses and do a large water change in the end. Kinda depends on why your prescribing antibiotics in the first place and as others have noted the associated risks you want to take with your biological filter as it is a broad-spectrum antibiotic so can impact both perceived good and bad bacteria.

You will also want to try and understand why you have brown jelly in the first place. Usually some stressor, etc. aka cipro is more of a short-term fix persay if you don't address the underlying cause.

I tried this treatment before but I can say if it worked or not. Because after the 7th day I still saw RTN issues with some of my Acros. Then I started using the Triton RTN solution. I don't know which one actually resolved the issue or is it a combination of both. However, I am having a massive RTN problem right now where I have lost almost 50% of my Acto colonies, some of which has been in my system for more than 10 years. Needless to say, I don't even want to think about this in terms of dollars. I am going to try the cephalexin treatment again, but this time I think I may have to increase the dosage. And I'll make a concerted effort to do it at night when the lights are out as recommended. I'll keep you guys posted. See the attached images. Dipping them does not help and in most cases impossible because these corals have encrusted onto my rocks over the years. If anyone know where I can buy the tablets cheap I'll certainly appreciate it because getting them from my vet is super expensive
